General Guidelines for using Library Facilities

OPJU Library Rules:

  • ☛ Personal belongings such as text books, printed materials, files, briefcases, bags, umbrellas, etc. should be kept in the property counter. However, calculators, plain papers and notebooks can be brought inside the library.
  • ☛ All library users are requested to sign in for the library access. They need to scan their ID card at the gate scanner machine during entry and exit times.
  • ☛ Food items, snacks, water bottles etc. are not permitted inside the library.
  • ☛ Electronic gadgets are strictly prohibited in the library premises but can be used for academic purposes with the permission from the librarian.
  • ☛ The books taken from the shelves must be kept on the table. Rearranging the books on the shelves is strictly prohibited.
  • ☛ The librarian may recall any book from any member at any time and the member shall return the same immediately.
  • ☛ The members must wear his/her identity card when they enter the library.
  • ☛ All users are requested to avoid loud discussions in the library and thereby maintain the decorum of the library.
  • ☛ Use of the user PC kept inside the library is allowed for accessing library catalogue, e-journals, e-books and academic databases only.
  • ☛ For a new membership through online mode, to one soft copy of the photograph (jpeg format) shall be sent to the opju library email address - library@opju.ac.in
  • ☛ The activation of the library membership will be communicated to the members via email.
  • ☛ The borrower will have to replace the book in original form within 30 days of reporting the missing item. Failing to replace the book will result in a penalty, that is equivalent to an amount of double thecurrent cost of the book and it will be recovered from the individual.

Issue of Books

  • Always carry the Identity card. It must be produced whenever asked by the library professional. ID card is mandatory for borrowing books.
  • Library cards are not transferable.
  • Handle the Library material with utmost care and a borrower shall remain responsible for material issued to her/him until it is returned.
  • Books not returned on or before the due date stamped on the book will be charged a fine of Rs 5/- per day, per book.
  • Reference Books, Dictionary, Encyclopaedia, Handbooks, Journals and magazines, Year Books, Dissertations are for consultation within the Library premise.
  • If any missing /lost library membership card, report immediately to Central Library with proper justification for new membership card. Penalty will applicable in this case.
  • The Librarian reserves the right to recall items issued at any time, even before the due date
  • User can reserve book through circulation counter
